What has been done

Text and background contrast meets level AA. All functions are operable by keyboard and the keyboard focus is always visible. Menus and the image viewer close with the Escape key.

Site type is never distinguished by colour alone but always also by text. Touch targets are at least 44 points.

Pages work without JavaScript as far as possible: navigation, language selection and all text content are ordinary links.

Known shortcomings

The map is visual and its content cannot be read with a screen reader. The same information is available as text on the site and municipality pages, which are intended as the primary route to the content.

Captions for archive photographs come from the source material and not all of them describe the image adequately for a blind reader.

Some source texts are only in Finnish even though the interface is translated.
